This is exactly how I was going to approach it.  I think the audio
memory/delay angle is the simplest and cheapest (man hours, part count,
etc).  What i'd really love to see is a standardized board (in perhaps
several profiles) for retrofitting various modulars.  Some commercial
modular makers might even be inclined to integrate the boards directly
into their systems at build.

I'm hoping embedded sequencers can take hold and someday a
modular without them is simply waiting for an upgrade.

Whomever attacks this problem please keep me in the loop.  I'm gonna need
about 70 boards and I probably have some good suggestions.
