Julian,
I wish I could give you some definitive answers but I'm just started
investigating this myself. Almost all the art supply stores I've come across
only offer inks for textile and paper. This looks promising though:

You could also contact the ink companies directly, tell them your
requirments, see what they suggest. You need an ink that will adhere to the
surface (obviously). If it is raw aluminum, you need ink that sticks to
metal. If the panel is painted, you need ink that adheres to that paint (not
metal).
