Yeah, you missed something alright. And I don't know if thinking of synthedit as a "business" is a good place to start. The designer is a very smart, cool and helpful fellow and has...nevermind.

Take a look at the synthedit yahoo group , or maybe Google synthedit.

I've been using (growing with) synthedit for at least 3 years. It's the coolest software I've ever used (non programmer). Can do MIDI, audio gen, audio process, record, sample playback, dude the list goes on and on.

*Perhaps I was OT(OT) when I brought up synthedit, because it's more of a 'developers' program - to 'make' VSTs and such...not a 'true' softsynth in the terms that you don't have to do anything.

It is: DIY, easy (logical) to use, cheap, doesn't require Cscience degree, has many (free) 3rd party modules, nice GUI...seriously, try it, you might get caught up in it like a lot of people have. There are many helpful people in the SE community, check www.dehaupt.com/SynthEdit/ ,this guy is GREAT.

[I'm pretty sure that T. Gamble's (EFM) synths and effects VSTs were created with synthedit. (but I've never used his stuff - I make my own or use xoxox's stuff, so I can't comment on his quality.)]

peace
