There are 3 fans in my PC, PSU/case/processor, and I'd put money on the PSU
fan being the quietest of the lot: all 3 fans are (were) completely drowned
out by the noise from the disk drive. I reduced this to a much more
acceptable level with a 'Silentdrive' box for it: a lot of money for a
plastic and metal box with a bit of foam in it, but it works for me! (If you
haven't already done so, see if you have an option to spool the drive down
when idle, then see what difference that makes - you might be blaming the
fans unfairly...)
