[sdiy] sources of hum and hiss in a solid state guitar amp (LM1875) (slightly OT)

Another thing I should mention real quick is the perceived difference in
ease of cleaning up a tube amp signal and a solid state amp signal. What I
mean is: I was really surprised at how easy it was to get the tube amp that
I built to be dead quiet. Of course I do credit all of the great resources
on the web that I've consulted concerning such matters and especially you
guys. There's a lot of crap out there too and you guys help sort it all out.
It took me weeks of surfing to commit to a design for that amp. Of course
I've been playing around with electronics since I was a child - for over 20
years. I had always assumed it would be easier to get hum and hiss out of
solid state gear, but I suppose the shear simplicity of most tube gear (for
instrument use anyway) makes it very conducive to prformance tweaking.
