I'm a little more jaded

The electronic musical instruments
(from the major corporations) are intended
to be "toasters"... they should become
obsolte and fail quickly after the warranty
period so you will buy a new one.

I'm sure they are well aware that the
conductive rubber keyboards have a limited
life and will be unrepairable... where most
J-wire of other methods could last fifty years
of more...

The other issue is the basic difference between
keyboardists and guitarists...

A keyboardist will plunk down massive bucks for the
latest thing... guitarists are more frugal (ie cheap)
by comparison.

ARP (imho) bet the farm and lost on the Avatar because
they did not understand the distinction. There are
LOTS more guitarists... but they are conditioned to
spend $50 for an effect, not $2K...

It will be the boutique instruments that will survive
the test of time... ones with more love in the design
than money...
