You may get along with Eagle much better if you recognize that the
actions in the GUI basically just get rewritten into commands that are
interpreted by the "real" program.

Just about everyone I've ever talked to who uses Eagle has made their
own "standard" library of preferred parts. None of them bear any
resemblance, so the old saying "the nice thing with standards is that
there are so many to chose from" prevails. On last count I seem to have
three of them myself... :-)
