Sure, good point. I'd say it may not be the circuitry so much as how much
opportunity there is to get noise on it. Having the comparitor physically
close to the ramp and having a locally regulated trip point has to help.
But the brilliance of Kenneth's method is to just eliminate scope
triggering as an issue. I was amazed at how well it worked, how easy to
do. It would definitely be worthwhile to look at how the inherent VCO
jitter/wander depends on frequency for different designs.
