Analog Devices has recently announced a new layout for single op-amp DILs that adds a 'feedback' pin on the side where the '+' and '-' input are. This pin is internally connected to the output pin on the other side.

Right - and even the two duals will only take 8/7 to space
of a quad.
Of course the quad's multifold symmetry can be of advantage
for some layout situations, too. I often try 3 variants
for opamp layout, and see which one fits best:
Quad
Dual DIL
Dual SIL
You will be surprised how easy layout can be when you
go for SIL packages! Too bad that they are not very common,
often more expensive, and generally restricted to japanese
opamp types.
