I make my own panels from surplus aluminum sheet. I use a small table saw to
cut the aluminum to size.
I bought a used hand operated 5 ton punch press to make holes. The punch and
die are maybe $30 each.

| Since the 'elongated holes' are an industry standard, which doepfer has
| ignored in the interests of cheapness, you could do the same thing,
| just find any small local metal work shop & have some aluminum drilled
| & anodised at the local electroplaters.
|
| For example, I found a 2 man business that makes (among other things)
| custom fume extractors for kitchens, they were able to cut the aluminum
| to size & drill round holes. But, when I wanted odd shaped cutouts, I had
to
| go to a much larger operation with a metal punch (and, for a particular
size
| rectangular led cutout that they didn't have in stock, it was $A 400 for
the
| tool..)
