Hello Tom,

Another thing to check when this type of problem occurs are the diodes on the 
keyboard PCB.  If your meter has a diode test mode, use that (just read 
directly accros each diode, plus lead to anode, minus lead to cathode).  If you 
don't have a diode test mode, then just use your meter's resistance mode.  A bad 
diode will either be shorted (very low or no resistance) or open (infinite or 
extremely high resistance).  Good diodes will read about 500 to 1000 Ohms (or 
thereabouts).  Also check the solder connections where the diodes attach to 
the PCB.
