Dear all,
Perhaps someone can explain this to me, but I've been struggling for AGES
with this.
WHY, oh why, is everyone so obsessed with simulating Moogs/Arps/SCI stuff?
yes, it sounds good, fine, but there is soo much more yet to do with
synthesis.
This years FrankFurt MusicMesse was a real eye opener, why? not because of
any new gear but because of the lack of it. The lack of anything and
everything new and also several manufacturers and also people!
All I see is VA emulations, all I see in the SynthDIY world is Moog ladder
clones, SVF clones, VCOs (still making sawtooths/square/pwm/sine).. Korg,
with their MS10 emaultion, Wavestation emulation, both good, but still
nothing new, even the triton, with a valve (WTF is that all about!)
I feel that the synth industry is stagnating, its vanishing up its own arse
at a fast rate.
But WHY?
Everytime someone tries to do something new, eg. Neuron, it gets slagged off
because no-one can be arsed to understand the technology..
Is everyone here TRULY happy with the standard VCO->VCF->VCA combination?
I can't beleive this for one moment, truly I can't, so lets see (and hear)
some NEW modules, some NEW ideas, some NEW concepts, not copies of things
already done.
Paul
