As a side note on that: Why is it that I still can read my old Commodore
64 disks and ZX81 tapes, but when I try using/reading a 5 year old 3.5"HD
disk then I not only get read errors but can't even reformat the thing.
(And no, it's not the drive's fault...)

And where I truly appreciate how small things can be done today, it's just
not possible to repair them anymore if the central ASIC fails...
