[sdiy] switching power supply

Ugh... less than 1.5"? I doubt it! I don't know anything about
switching supplies other than that they are noisy. They just use them
in digital electronics because they are cheep, and digital does not
need the supply to be as clean as analog does. I never see switching
supplies for 15v

With such a tight fit, you might be better off building a linear supply
that fit. 33v-36v center-tapped transformer, some 7815, 7915, 7805
regulators, diodes, a couple of big caps and you are psyched. Otherwise
I recall seeing lots of good supply deals at "Brigar Electronics"
website.
