i think it was this [last?] month's sound on sound that even had a thing
about the advantages of outboard DSP systems? im probably wrong about SOS...
but on openended special purpose hardware:
re: chameleon
re: ez-kit lite [shifty death synth, the guys at DSPerado, etc]
re: nord modular + nord modular g2 [too versitile to be considered just a
virtual synth]
re: new stand alone VST host systems
etc.
computer based is convenient, but at some point you can get annoyed with
crashes, glitches, etc, that i find arent as big a problem with hardware...
now if they only had a stand alone platform for reaktor... imagine the
resources that would take... the 21st century equivalent of Synclavier and
Fairlight systems :P
