The primary market for those tri-color LED's is giant-screen color LED video 
displays.  These displays only look right if you view them at a distance.  If 
you get too close, all the discrete LED elements become visible and the video 
effect is lost.  These screens have been getting better and better and 
brighter and clearer every year.  The latest ones are actually pretty amazing.  Here 
in Las Vegas, they're everywhere.
