no, the way those worked was that the phosphors in the CRT decayed 
slowly enough that the data represented by them would remain in the 
memory unit for a few milliseconds, so it did not have to be refreshed 
constantly.  the LEDs dont have similar properties.
besides...who wants a low-density memory system that costs upwards of 
5USD a kB :P
