Hi Charles,
Welcome to SDIY and congrats on starting a synth project. Here are a few
links to simple sequencers that I've found. Take a look and see which you
like best (or maybe even use bits from all of them). Have fun!
Ray Wilson's expandable 8-step seq

A couple of interesting circuit bending/sequencer ideas
http://www.sailormouth.org/cbender/seq.html
Ken Stone's Gate Sequencer (also use the CV Adapter add on in the next link)

John Blacet's really nifty MIDI to Sequencer Clock chip! Includes a few
simple schematics for application ideas.

The Mooseq; a rather nice and very simple circuit. Includes switches for
switching the glide in and out, a.k.a "slide" feature. Also has one of my
favorite URLs ;)

A fairly simple 16 step unit from the SDIY network. Uses the 4067 1-16
analog MUX.

Again, have fun with it and don't hesitate to ask questions. A lot of the
authors of these schematics are on SDIY, and I've found this to be a very
helpful list (even if you have questions about BBDs!).
Cheers!
Tim (waiting for the coffee to kick in) Servo
