1/8" steel ???

wow thats gonna be hard to work, even with a drill 
press.  Was there a reason to not use aluminum ?

also... consider Front Panel Express (Schaeffer) who
makes engraved front panels to your spec.  It might
cost a bit of money but with their CNC capability you
can easily design a panel and get it made perfectly.
