Subject: [sdiy] Bob Moog interview in Tape Op

Um, anyone here get Tape Op?

(A North American audio recording magazine with a somewhat indie-rock DIY slant.)

The current issue (May/June 2004, #41) has an interview with Bob Moog. It's in a column called Behind The Gear that features interviews with audio gear designers etc.

The interview runs about 3 pages. Couldn't say how much of it would reveal new info so much as fun anecdotes. My fave story, which bears some relation to the messy workspace/spousal gating threads, is about Bob Moog's delivering a modular system to the already gear-laden NYC apt. of sound logo composer Eric Siday and Siday's wife freaking out. It's really funny--funnier still the way that Moog tells it.

Tape Op can be subscribed to for free (at least in the US) at www.tapeop.com To get ahold of the above issue, though, you'd probably need to look for it in Borders, Barnes & Noble or whatever local bookstore where a whole lot of obscure magazines are sold.

Some other folks featured this month:

  Walter Sear

  Sigur Ros

  Pauline Oliveros

Tony Maimone (bassist with Peru Ubu back in the day)

Some of these features include a sidebar interview with an assisting sound engineer, tech, collaborator.

Meant to mention this sooner (or later)--thankfully, the RMoog in Barcelona thread jogged my failing memory.

  Back to lurking,
  Kevin Seward
