[sdiy] Aries modulars

Hey folks,

I had vaguely heard of Aries modulars in the past, but today I
happened to run into this web site that documents them pretty well.
Check it out:

  http://www.leinermedia.com/Aries/AriesHome.html

Here are the interesting things I learned:

  1. Dennis Colin, known for much of the design work on the ARP 2500
and ARP 2600, was apparently the main designer of the Aries
     modules.

  2. The modules are very ARP-like in design, philosophy, voltage
levels, circuit details, etc. 'Not surprising.

  3. Their VCO is a triangle core, with a parallel sawtooth
integrator, thus eliminating any possible glitch in the
triangle-to-sawtooth converter at the expense of possible
sawtooth level inaccuracies. This relates to the recent
     discussion here.

  4. They have a voltage controlled phase shifter that appears to be
the same as the one on the ARP Quadra, but without the noise
reduction circuitry. And it seems to be 10 stages instead of
     14.

Very cool stuff.
