Dim traces at high sweep speeds is normal... there is
only
so much energy the guns can deliver that fast. The
tradeoff is between the speed (persistance) of the CRT
and the brightness. Analog storage scopes allow you
to
vary the persistance and get a little better trace.
Older scope CRTs get worse with time. Always turn the
intensity down when not using the scope and use the
minimum intensity level to get the best life.
