[sdiy] 4017 sequencer pulses

i am building a very simple percussion sequencer with
a 4017 cmos chip. each output goes to the input of a
741 summing amp circuit. it works, except when
adjacent outs are used--the pulses run together into
one long pulse. so i think i need to shorten these
pulses. what is the most simple way of doing this?
