Well, 9V should work. Naturally, if you knew how that tape-recorder was powered
it would be a clue.

You can feed it up to 12V at least:

Oh, and you *SHOULD* put it into use again!

A good DIYer recycles at least part of something before tossing it away.
You never know when you need a middle-range missle with launch-vehicle before
you toss away the tactical multiple warhead nuclear-bombs that you had to waste
since they where driving the counters crazy. There is nothing like blowing up
the back yard just to get a decent new years eve rocket!
