ahhh so i was wrong! yes, more reading and research
is a requirement, so i will do more searching with the
google man. i found a few of the sites everyone
listed, but in the spirit of excitement i must have
forgotten to bookmark, they were filed.
yes i went to a shitty vocational school with a bunch
of troubled teens intoxicated on contact cleaner, but
i did learn how to troubleshoot tv's, vcr's, and
amplifiers. :) ohh those were the days. NOTE: i am
basically starting from scratch here, i am no ee.
as for the comments about the starting with the asm-1,
you have a good point. i have been thinking alot about
this. initially i wanted to go straight for the MOTM
series...but i came down to earth, and realized that,
yeah, i could put together some simpler MOTM modules,
however i think a smaller kit would be ideal. putting
an asm-1 together from scratch initially would be the
steep learning experience, similar to a frying pan to
the head. i dont want to get in over my head
initially and then get discouraged. perhaps the paia
fatman, and a vocoder to start with. then i dont know
where to go from there. dont want to think too far
into the future, and not get some easier work under my
belt (and hey what can a few more synthesizers in the
studio hurt???). just want to go simple with an
included pcb, perhaps get creative with the front
panel, or case.
down the line i would like to etch pcbs, but need to
slowly build here on up. maybe i will have a fatman
modfreaked in 2 monthes, and have a asm-1 built in the
next 6 monthes (hahaha) we'll see how it goes. i
consider myself a musician at heart, so the question
is how deep am i willing to go... will i be the next
synthesizer diy addict?
thanks very much for the responses. the vibe here is
great, and im glad to be a part of the list.
