All you'll need are some small (and cheap) 120VAC to 110VAC step-down
transformers for each 100VAC Japanese unit you'll want to run here in
the USA....
In fact, your friend can probably find those transformers easier
in Japan than here (although they aren't THAT hard to source)
*DO NOT* be tempted to run a 100VAC unit on 120VAC thinking that the
difference isn't that great!!!! You could potentially start frying
capacitors that were used to running at a lower voltage, especially
in the power supply section. You'll also be putting more stress on
the voltage regulators....
