[sdiy] another newbie

Welcome to the SDIY mailing list! Yes, this list is definitely active. To
tell you the truth, I've found the people on this list to be VERY talented
and EXTREMELY helpful. It's a very nice 'community' and everybody tries to
pitch in with suggestions and help when a subject they really know about
comes up. Valid topics are just about anything involving synthesizers or
audio, especially when it comes to building or modifying equipment. We're
mostly analog freaks, but digital and digital/analog hybrid equipment topics
are becoming more and more popular.

Hope you have a great time building and playing with modular synth
equipment. Blacet, PAIA and many others are excellent starting points. Yes,
it's monophonic, no, it doesn't have patch memory, but there's nothing quite
like the feeling of tweaking those knobs and REALLY getting your hands on a
sound. One word of caution: building synth equipment CAN be addictive. If
you start getting into it, you can say goodbye to most of your spare money
and spare time. Maybe we should start a support group... "Hi, my name is Tim
and I'm a synthesizer addict." "(group answers) Hi, Tim."
