Now that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just arrange all the patch
points as a keyboard scanning matrix, an then generate something like modulation
matrix messages from the detected patchcord connections.

But I think there's an annoying drawback to this whole panel approach as
well - what if next year's soft synth upgrade includes an additional
parameter here and there...?
