[sdiy] modular synth controller

All,

It's a nice idea, but can you imagine doing something like Midisoft's
controller for a softsynth like Arturia's Yamaha CS80 emulation? My
recollection of the (rare and no doubt very expensive) Jellinghaus DX7
programmer was that it was a VERY large mass of knobs and switches - not
exactly a practical proposition - and who's to say it wouldn't be almost as
heavy as the real thing :-)

I can't see it being overly practical to produce a MIDI controller for a
softsynth of a genuine modular synth (modularity and hence flexibility in
terms of available modules notwithstanding) like Arturia's Moog Modular V.
Being somewhat tongue-in-cheek for a moment : how, for example, could you
implement the MIDI equivalent of a patchcord?

Personally, I can't see the idea of full-blown MIDI controller 'replication
of the front panel' being workable for softsynths other than those of a
fixed architecture.
