[sdiy] Taking a Step towards - - --((FUTURE-PREDICTIONS))-- - -

i was thinking recently.. why not take things a step further than this? why
not make a modular midi controller or control surfaces? they would basically
be front panels like motm, blacet, .com, moog etc. even the same split in
components: oscillator, filter, etc. the knobs are programmable midi
controllers. if there would be some way to interconnect these modules, you
can literally build exactly the same synth as a vsti, solving the problem of
general controllers not having the right 'feel'. you could even go so far a
to design a bus-system that would allow modulation routings and such.
if it were possible to produce something like this for, say, 20-25$ per
module (which is only a front plate, at most 5 midi controllers/knobs and
probably a small controller pcb with a few parts) people could build their
own controller synths for vsti's or even digital synths.
