I know exactly what you mean. In the past, I was also a factory authorized
"module jockey", starting with the introduction of the Mirage itself. 

I think there should be some sort of rule about releasing detailed service
info into the public domain, if your company ever goes out of business, or
discontinues factory support for a product. That would make things
interesting.  ;)
