It's very complete that is for certain, but it is not a good book to
learn from. He goes deep into each subject into every detail before
moving onto the next one.
The upside is that it comes with a PCB to make a programmer with
(probably worth the price of the book alone really considering what a
programmer would cost), plus the CDROM contains pretty much all of the
documentation and software you'll need (including the component docs).
His explanations are often long winded and either go into too much
detail or not enough.
So my summary is, book not-so-great (though the example experiments are
handy) but the supplementary material is good. Makes for a good
reference anyway.

Sorry, but I would strongly recommend not getting that one. A reviewer
on
Amazon called it the worst technical book he has ever seen. I can't
think
of any worse myself. I found it almost impossible to learn from. The
material is presented in an arbitrary sequence that essentially assumes
you
know a *lot* about the PICs already. It is full of ambiguities and
errors,
evidence of hasty preperation, etc.
My recommendation is to just use the Microchip documentation. It is
very
clearly and carefully written.
I also like the book "Design with PIC Microcontrollers" byJohn
Peatman. This is more on an intermediate level.
