"better" than the 741 ???

at WHAT  ???   :^P

(imho the 741 is too often maligned... the 741 is a rugged little opamp... hard
to kill
outside of plugging into 120VAC - I have seen that done ;^P.   The 324 is the
opamp
to use if you must do a single supply design... other than that the 324 is the
last opamp
I choose for anything... oops - I lied. Second to last opamp [not to forget the
LM3900])

Now how about the LM359 dual Norton ?   I could not get Bob Pease's opinion on
that
one (as to whether it was better than the LM3900)
