The LM358 can be useful (it is a dual version of the LM324).
It is useful only in low frequency circuits (CV processing and
such). Also, it has some problems in the output, depending on your point
of view. The output driver is class B, so you will get a crossover notch
at about half the power supply voltage. You can help this out a bit by
tieing a 10K resistor from the output to the negative power supply rail.
One of its qualities is that the common mode input range goes down to the
negative supply rail, however, only within about 1.5 volts of the positive
supply rail.
