Mine was a box with a momentary switch in it, with each end of that going to
separate jacks  which 'gated' (usually) a constant high voltage  to create
manual triggers.  A real technical achievement, that one.   I was quite
happy with it, although there was a bit of rationalization  that switch the
bounce gave it its 'character'.

I later made a two channel version of same.
