Heh... I watched for years, waiting. Software became good enough to do that
(debatably, yes!) but now we moved to a house and I've been accumulating
hardware. Ugh!
So, in general you are happy with your laptop setup, except for some mild
staleness?

Budget is a big question.
What about the Adrenalinn? I hear that's a great mangler.
Based on your mixer comment, maybe you just want some mild analog
distortion. Tube preamps are probably worth a listen, and there are a
million to choose from these days. Also, have you tried any of the analog
tape and vacuum tube simulator plug-ins?
