Hello Darren,
You can get special heavy-duty cutting discs for your Dremel that can take a
lot more abuse, and can cut through an amazing range of materials -- including
very hard steel. Unfortunately, I don't remember who makes them, but they're
not a Dremel product. I will find out and get back to you about it.
My absolute favorite Dremel tip is the little metal wire brush! (the one
that looks like a miniature version of the rotary wire brushes you find on bench
grinders) They don't last very long, but they sure are useful. I, too, like
the pointy-tapered-tip grinder. I got one of the hardened tungsten ones,
which is good for working on metal stuff. The little "bullet-nosed" grinder bit
is also very useful.

P.S. - to anyone who wants to use those wire brushes with their Dremel: Make
sure you always wear eye protection! The little wires have a way of coming
loose and shooting out right into your face -- or into your eyes, if they're
not protected.
