[sdiy] shallow rack enclosures?

Hi,
That is my intention too (to use the SKB pop-up cases)
What I'm going to try is to use the MOTM horizontal rails to screw my
modules to and then find a way of doing the back panel.
I'm using 3U high format. The Doepfer (3U too) uses the "euro-rack"
format wich results in a bit less height and many mechanical thinguies
there I don't like, and are expensive. And you should have to cut each
rack ears to fit the SKB, so no worth -imho- to do so much work, better
to build it yourself or find something else.
The FrackRack (PAiA, Blacet, 3U too) is great but it takes some space
on each side. I found that with the MOTM rails (or make them locally)
you can use the maximum horizontal space for your modules.
The SKB cases are heavy and 5'' deep, so I will use external PSUs with
the distribution busses inside the case (one for general PSU and
another for dirty PSU) on each case.
I'd love to build the synth inside wood cases but the SKB can protect
the modules very well for years (and pop-up)
