Yes, it is a nice chip... I think there was already an Elektor project with 
this chip...

Yes, this would be a hot controller chip.

Analog Devices new "mixed signal" micro's have an ARM-core. But as I love the 
8051 and have a lot of tools for it I will stay on the 8051 line...
