Well, perhaps you can "fix" your strip board....  After you mount all of 
the IDC connectors, you could build up the traces on the board with wire 
and solder.     Get some solid-core wire and run it on the copper traces, 
soldering it over the entire length.  Your conductor is now the copper 
traces + the solid core wire + the solder used to attach it.

I bet this would end up having an equivalent size of 18ga or better.... 
should be plenty.    If you are really concerned, you could use 2 traces 
for each power rail... the MOTM / Blacet / EFM standard has the V+ / V- 
rails on the outside, so you should be able to double them up and use the 
adjacent traces as well.
