[sdiy] Yamaha Breath Controller Question

Hi,

Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, but I thought that people on this list
might be able to help me with this question.

I'm interested in using a Yamaha Breath Controller (BC3a) for
controlling a software synth. However, it seems that the only way to do
this is to either get a hardware synth with a Breath Controller input
and then send the data to the PC as MIDI, or to buy a MIDI Solutions
Breath Controller which converts the BC3a's output to MIDI and then send
it to the PC.

My problem is that I don't want to use MIDI-I'd prefer to use something
like OSC (http://www.cnmat.berkeley.edu/OpenSoundControl/). In this
case, I'll have to make my own device to convert the BC3a's output to
OSC (which I'm happy to do). However, before I buy a BC3a I'd like to
know more about what it actually outputs.

>From what I've been able to find out on the web, the device needs to be
powered. Does anyone know what voltage/current it requires (and the
configuration)? Also, does anyone know anything about what it actually
outputs--is it a CV? If so, what is the approximate range?

Cheers,

Chris Share
