[sdiy] Glide circuit, how possible?

The 4051 usually has only one output on at a time, but it would be
possible
to switch them between adjacent outputs at an ultrasonic frequency...
giving
the effect of a smooth transition between them, and possibly a whole
sh!tload
of switching noise as well (you'd have to try it)
Grant Richter outlined a method of dithering an LM3914 bar graph chip to
do something
similar... maybe he has it posted at www.musicsynthesizer.com
somewhere.
You might also use the individual outputs to drive a voltage to current
converter, into
an LED/Photocell and use standard glide techniques.
