[sdiy] weird array of potentiometers

I have quite an array of values and qualities of pots. Some weird
values which are too rough action to usually use. Of course most of my
fave smooth, sealed pots I've found are outside of the range of
typically needed (by me) for synth work: less than 10k, 1Meg+. I guess
if I could really design circuits yet I'd try to make modules for the
values at hand.

What decent pots are out there, especially from US distributors, in the
10k, 50k, and 100k values? All I am finding is either scratchy low-end
Rat Shack/ Xicon pots, or really deluxe Bourns and such which are more
bombproof and expensive than I need. Also, I prefer 1/4", panel-mount
pots with small profile.

I have been amazed that, as I have resumed my building, that I have
been able to find any happy medium here. Checking the big catalogs out
there the results have not been too good. Any ideas?

Any experiences with 1/8" pots in synths? I did get a great deal on 140
pices of 100k sealed clarostat pots. but they are 1/8"… I am afraid to
do the work of setting up a submodular panel with them in case I just
need to redrill them for new 1/4" pots later. If I hear good
experiences with the smaller pots then maybe I won't feel so bad, and
I'll use them. >;]P
