[sdiy] "Audio" vs. "Log" taper

Given that the definition for an Audio taper pot is that it develops 15% of
its total resistance when adjusted to the midpoint of its travel, and that
a Log pot will develop 10% of its resistance when adjusted to its midpoint,
which one should be chosen for a volume control and why?

I know that some designers will actually use Log tapered pots for volume
controls instead of using Audio tapered pots. I'm just wondering what
reasons they might have for doing this (other than simply picking whichever
pot is easiest to find at any given moment.)

thanks,
Glen
