For the records, or other VAZ users here, there's a
workaround: feed the "4-input mixer" into the pitch
input, then FM carrier to mixer channel 1; then feed
the normal "note high" or your other pitch of choice
at full index into channel 2 AS WELL AS into channel 3
at index 1. The osc's will still track very reasonably
and can be FMed over the full range (at 44K sample
rate, this is 8 octaves before they start to get
scratchy, right?). The "FM inputs" are only useful for
vibrato.
Thanks for making VAZ so limited, it's fun coming up
with these tricks! :-)

It doesn't have to be through zero FM, the linear FM
as some modular VCOs (Buchla 258-C, Wiard/ Blacet,
MOTM) would be terrific already. A large enough index
is much more important.
But as I said, a slight delay wouldn't even be a
problem, so why not add BOTH FM types :-)

Why is the index dependant on pitch? I never noticed
that the linear FM index of two VCOs changed when they
were controlled by independent pitch sources??
If I'm ignorant of common knowledge here, I'd still
appreciate a private reply. But anyway, VAZ Modular
already has MANY non-constant features, long before if
you push its boundaries, and that's what analog
modulars are loved for as well - hey, even your
filters don't have constant tracking (index 116
approximates it for a few octaves) - so why worry
about FM indeces.
Not sure if I'm sounding like it, but I love using VAZ
Modular and would like to encourage you to add this.
