I was waiting outside a professor's office one day (cough, 27yrs ago) for
my turn. Inside was a guy, over-dressed a little for an EE (standard EE
attire was jeans, flannel shirt, sneakers) and the prof was intently
studying this rather large, but beautifully hand-drwn schematic. After a
few minutes, the conversation went something like this:

Prof: "I sort of get the overall idea, but ther are parts of this circuit
that don't make any sense."

Student: "Which ones?"

P: "This here (points). The transistor uses is a PNP, but it's biased for
a NPN. And it needs a capacitor here (points) and this diode is
backwards."

S: (takes notes on a pad) "anything else?"

P: "Well, you don't have this section connected at all to the others, and
over here....." (voice trails off, snaps his head up) "Just exactly what
are you doing here?"

S: (fidgets a little) "Errr...I'm an architecture student. I saw this
electrical template at the bookstore. I drew this up, and wanted to know
if I've invented anything."

Progessor then *wads the drawing up*, tosses it into the trash can and
says, "No."

True story!
