Analog Devices has already done this for us. not very hard to use, either...
check the AD 8113 and 8114. i'd like to think that i am personally
responsible for bringing a lower cost audio version to fruition... but nah, i probably
just bugged them enough to respond once or twice. at that point, the video
crosspoints were just tooo expensive. the "audio" versions are not much less.
as for the VCA part, the SSM2164 is still the best price/performance ration
(quad current control amps), but the THAT chips or single VCA's from AD would
likely sound better.
good luck, either way. i looked into a project like this a while ago, and
gave up!
