Yes, but i built Ken´s circuit just to see it, and it worked immediately !
So i suspect some fault in my handling of the 163.

Good point. But before i go deeper into learning VHDL, building or buying a programmer
and so on, i would prefer good old TTL logic for such simple stuff.
Especially if there are no really high frequencies involved. The 100 MHz will be divided down
to less than 16 MHz after the first counter, and i even do not use it´s output. So i can get away
without too much RF headaches (at least i hope so)

Yes, sure you are right. But in life there is only so much time, and some other things
(like work, the wife, my parrots and so on) need their fair share of time, too.
So many ideas, so less time for them...
