[sdiy] EPROM has gone defected ?

Well, anything is posible...but off hand, I would say no.  EPROMS are 
pretty rugged.  I have even plugged them in backwards (and the bonding wire 
glow up through the window), and they still work...it is pretty hard to 
changed their programming.

Now EEPROMS are a different story...but you aren't talking about them.
