I am thinking about building a 4 x 2 switcher for Alesis optical "light
pipe" digital audio.
a) Does anyone know the receptacles used in this? It's some sort of
TOSLINK type part. Can someone point me to the Mouser part #?
b) I assume I'd need a buffer between the input and output. I haven't
started to mess with this yet, but, reading what I have about ADAT and
TOSLINK digital signalling, I assume I'd need very little else,
electronics-wise; it seems pretty simple to me.
INPUT --->BUFFER---->Switch---->OUTPUT
---->OUTPUT
Does anyone know which buffer Alesis (or Hosa in the ODS330, or Sonic
solutions or whomever) uses for this? Is it just a CD4010 or equiv?
Has anyone else ever tried to build one of these? Any advice/suggestions?
Should I just buy 2 of the Hosa's (but what fun would that be?)
Thanks in advance for the help as always.
